Ever since the release of movies
such as The
Fast and the Furious, street racing has seemed to gain more attention,
both good and bad. Like it or not, street racing happens wherever
cars are and Scandalous
Racing set out to document what happens when the sun goes down
and the engines fire up.
Over
a span of sixteen months, Scandalous went from Chicago to Florida
and then down to Texas, documenting on film the raw and unedited world
of hardcore underground racing. But there is so much more to
it than just watching car after car pass down an empty street. It
opens the casual observer up to a world that many do not know about
if they are not there to see it in person. There is focus on
the people involved, the culture, the betting and the hustling. It
displays in living color the wins, losses and the penalties involved.
They also stop at the Great Lakes Dragway to get footage of
some heavy competition at the track. Rounding things out is
a recap of the best of the best and interviews with a few street racing
veterans.
The
final content is not a cheap home video but a professionally produced
and mastered DVD by Sony. This video is presented in 50-bit
digital video in full screen, which currently no one else is this
field of "racing" videos offers. As far as sound,
this video is presented in AC3 digital Dolby for optimum quality.
Overall it is presented in a professional manner and no expense
was spared, from the mastering itself to the packaging, DVD printed
label, inside leaflet, etc. The end result is a much higher
quality production from start to finish than the usual videos of this
kind.
No
DVD is complete without bonus features. It starts with footage
from the 2004 SEMA show in Las Vegas, and leads into the hilarious
but informative "Street Racing Terminology" newscast. It
gets more humorous with the test drive of a brand new 2003 Mustang
Cobra where the car salesman is taken on a most unexpected and abusing
ride. Couple this with car rental abuse footage and you will
have more. Don't try this at home, kids.
Among
other features is coverage of a Viper vs. Supra meet in San Antonio
as well as Drifting in Las Vegas. Completing the DVD bonus features
is the Scandalous Girls at a party in South Beach, Miami. This
part is not to be missed and we hope to see much more in a sequel.
Running at about 100 minutes, this DVD offers enough variety for any
car enthusiast and the bonus features only add to the value.
Head over to ScandalousRacing.Com
and check out some of their sample videos. A lot of hard was
was put into this DVD, so buy a copy and ensure that there are more
to come in the future.
